Australian Performing Arts Market

The Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) The Gathering was hosted by Darwin Festival during August 2021 and brought leaders of the performing arts sector to the Top End of the Territory. Arts Markets have fast become the most efficient way for producers and artists to network, see how their work fits within the wider context of Australia and provide a platform to sell their tour-ready shows.

To take advantage of this opportunity Artback NT offered a number of places to independent Northern Territory artists and arts workers to attend the APAM Gathering in Darwin, providing  industry support and full payment of registration costs for those who were selected.

APAM Gathering in Darwin took place:

  • in-person from Saturday 14 – Tuesday 17 August
  • digitally from Tuesday 10 – Thursday 19 August

The Gathering served as an important time for artists and arts workers to share their work and to be inspired by the latest curated production showcases and pitches chosen from around Australia and New Zealand. Northern Territory practitioners were able to see how their work fit into a national and international landscape. Delegates were also provided extensive networking and professional development opportunities.

Funding for the successful independent Northern Territory artists was made available through the Strategic Arts Program awarded to Artback NT by Arts NT.
