This exhibition represented four Darwin Printmakers who each submitted four prints. Steve Fox of 24HR Art suggested the name 4 x4 as a result. The name also suggested that the exhibition may need some four wheel driving to get to its venues.

Artists Penny Campton and Andrea Campbell sparked off the idea for a touring exhibition inviting Jacki Fleet and Frank Gohier along for the ride.
