In exciting new for Artback NT staff, senior Yanyuwa/Garrwa woman Marlene Timothy and Creative Producer and Community Arts Cultural Development practitioner Lia Pa’apa’a, have been accepted to present at the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE) in Toronto, Canada in July 2017.

They will be speaking on the topic of “Cultural Maintenance and Capacity Building Through the Arts”, presenting their experiences of maintaining Indigenous culture through the arts and cultural activities they have been delivering in Borroloola as part of our Indigenous Traditional Dance program. WIPCE will also provide Marlene and Lia with a wonderful opportunity to learn and share with other global Indigenous peoples.

We can’t wait to see what Marlene and Lia come back with, it’s going to be an inspiring trip!
