Dr Joanna Barrkman is a curator, researcher and arts leader with more than four decades of experience across the performing arts, museums, galleries and community cultural development. Her career has spanned senior roles at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, the National Gallery of Australia, the Fowler Museum at UCLA and Charles Darwin University.

An award-winning author and respected scholar, Joanna has curated exhibitions and delivered cultural programs across Australia, Southeast Asia and the United States. She is recognised for her commitment to Southeast Asian and First Nations arts, cultural heritage and community-led creative practice.
