Over the last ten years, our Indigenous Traditional Dance Program (ITDP) has engaged a number of communities across the NT.

The ITDP program delivered DanceSite events in Alice Springs (2007 – 2009) and Tennant Creek (2010 – 2012) and is currently working with the communities of Numbulwar (2016 – present) and Borroloola (2013 – present), with each community developing a distinct engagement model in response to specific needs.

Throughout these 10 years of ITDP, Artback NT has also been able to provide assistance to a wide range of community projects, as well as facilitate NT artists to perform and attend many other events around the country such as:

• Assisting the Iwantja Dancers to perform the Kungkarangkalpa (Seven Sisters) inma at the Yarnballa Festival in Port Augusta SA, 2008.
• Obtaining funds to hold the Ngaanyatjarra Turlku Forum at Blackstone in May 2008.
• Assisting the development of Indulkana Forum, Coober Pedy, SA, August 2009.
• Supporting a number of NT artists to perform at the Dreaming Festival in Woodford Queensland 2008 and 2009.
• Support Mimili and Iwantja (Indulkana) women to travel first to Umoona (Coober Pedy) and Oodnadatta Track to reconfirm songlines with senior Traditional Owners and engage younger women in learning and rehearsing the dances and songs associated with this area, 2009.
• Offer support to multiple communities for dance forums such as Ali Curung, Ti Tree and Nturiya, Elliot, Docker River, Epenarra and Warakurna, 2010 and 2011.
• Tour Borroloola dancers to Walking with Spirits, Beswick NT, Women of the World Festival, Katherine and Mbantua Festival, Alice Springs – 2013.

DanceSite events in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek were significant arts and cultural engagements that established ITDP as a robust cultural community development initiative.
