Lia Pa’apa’a
Creative Producer
Lia is an artist, creative producer and mama who has cultural connections to Samoa and the Luiseño nation in Southern California. Based in Gimuy (Cairns) Lia is committed to creating culturally and creative safe spaces for communities to come together and works across regional and remote northern Australia. Lia has delivered large and small scale community events including the Contemporary Pacific Arts Festival, Malandarri Festival and the First Nations Children’s Festival. Lia’s creative practice is interdisciplinary with textile, fibre art and food intersecting with place making and community event delivery. Currently Lia’s work with the For Mothers Project centres the revitalisation, reclamation and reimaging of ancestral practices to support parents, families and communities.
